June Lockhart has entertained you, regardless of who you are or how old you are. Perhaps it was because of her television shows or movies, but she was a household name in entertainment.
Between 1958 and 1964, she played Ruth Martin, Timmy’s mother, on the television show Lassie. From 1955 to 1968, she played Dr. Maureen Robinson in the television series Lost in Space.
In addition to being a great actress, she is a mother and grandma. She has lived a full life and has most likely appeared on shows you have long forgotten.
This featured appearances on shows such as Petticoat Junction, Beverly Hills 90210, Bewitched, and Magnum PI. She appeared in about 40 episodes of General Hospital before joining Grey’s Anatomy in 2006.
More recently, she appeared in the 2016 film The Remake. Truly, she has had a long and successful career.
In the 1970s, June Lockhart became associated with NASA. She has always had an interest in space exploration and has helped NASA in many ways. She would frequently travel to space shuttle launches and meet with staff.
Over the years, she has been married two times and has two children with her first husband. After divorcing her second husband in 1970, she has not remarried.
The first movie that she was ever in was A Christmas Carol in 1938. She fondly remembers that movie, as she played in it with her parents, who were also actors.
She looks back on that movie with nostalgia and even watches it with her daughter and granddaughter as a family tradition. Her first line in the movie, “I know, I know, sausages” has been a running joke in the family.
June also has a rather interesting outlook on life. She says: “I’ve had many opportunities that just dropped into my lap over the years, and I’m glad I was equal to them. I used to think 90, gosh, that’s old. But I feel 55. I’m very fortunate to still be active and working.”
We wish her many more years of happiness.
