Adrián Olivares, who used to be in the boy band Menudo, has died.
He was 48 years old.
His family, friends, and bandmates from Menudo confirmed his death on Monday night.
A GoFundMe page set up by Adrián’s family and friends says he died suddenly on Monday. He had been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease last week.
Ulcerative colitis made the disease even worse.
“If you would please consider donating anything you can, it would be greatly appreciated as the family does not have the means to give Adrian his final farewell and help these girls with all their necessary expenses,” it said.
“Any money given will go to his mother, Natasha…” Please fly high, Adrian. We love you!
In 1990, Adrián joined the Latin band Menundo as its 23rd member. This was about 20 years after the band’s formation.
In 1993, when she was 16, the singer quit the band after only three years.
His time with the group was memorable, though, because albums like 15 Años, Detras Tu Mirada, and Dancin’, Movin’, Shakin’ came out during that time.
Adrián most recently started Wynwood Podcasting, a multimedia studio in Miami, Florida. He also owned and ran Antenna Sound Inc.
Also, he was in the Max miniseries Forever Young.
Adrián has three daughters: Eliana, 18, Lia and Lilly, twins, 8, and Lia, 14.
Robert Avellanet, who was in Menudo with Adrián in the 1990s, and other former bandmates wrote about his death on Instagram.
“I’m still shocked!” Robert wrote next to a picture of Adrian when he was younger.
“Strength to his family.” I hope your soul has a smooth journey. I will always remember how funny he was. Brother, we’ll meet there. Adrian, rest in peace.
This was also written on social media by Sergio Blass, who used to be in the same band.
“Fly high, little brother, and have a strong family…” “With your unmatched charm, you were always mature for your age,” the musician wrote.
“You will always be one of the good ones and you will always live in our hearts.”
Eliana, Adrián’s daughter, wrote a sad tribute to him on Instagram.
“I don’t know what to say. I will always love you, dad. “You’ve taught me love, strength, and many other things I wouldn’t have known without you,” she said.
“I still can’t believe you’re not here. I miss you so much and wish I could hug you or tell you I love you.”
“You’re the best dad a girl could ask for.” Thanks for being my guardian angel. I know that God has you in his care. “I love you always, dad.”
Sylvia Campos, who used to date the singer, also wrote a touching tribute on Facebook.
You were a great man, singer, son, brother, friend, but most of all a GREAT DAD. My beautiful Adriancito, you will always be in my heart. I was lucky to share such a beautiful love with you. May the way you go be bright. “I will always love you,” she wrote.
OTHER MENUDO DEATHS
After Adrián’s death, Ray Reyes, who used to be in Menudo, died of a heart attack in 2021.
It was 51 years old for the Puerto Rican musician.
At the time, Ray’s brother posted on Facebook that he had died and asked fans to give the family some space.
“It is with great pain in my soul that I confirm the death of my beloved brother, Ray Reyes,” he said.
“Please give us some space while we figure out what to do. Also, please pray for our family, especially my very fragile mother.” Also, please never forget what he left behind.
Tony Galindo, another former bandmate, died the year before, in 2021. He was 41 years old.
His death seemed to have something to do with an earlier suicide attempt. He was depressed because of how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the music business.
A statement from Anthony’s family also came out about his death.
